چکیده

Research Theme 1. Quantification of trace amount of proteins (Etsuro Ito, Mika Morikawa, Mugiho Kaneda) We are developing the method to detect and quantify very tiny amount of a given protein in a small volume, such as in a single cell. We aim at establishing an enterprise to commercialize protein quantification reagents and kits based on this technique. Using our “enzyme cycling method”, it is now possible to detect protein with ten thousands as high sensitivity as ever. The improved method with more sensitivity and easier to handle will be available in the near future. Grant Support: Grants from Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Japan Science and Technology Agency, and some foundations. Collaborations: With private companies and other universities.

Processing Time Effects on Functional and Antioxidant Properties of the Quinoa Proteins Hydrolyzed with Alcalase and Pancreatin

Background and Objectives: Antioxidants are used to decrease oxidation of oils and increase shelf life of foods for centuries. Nowadays, researchers investigate for the replacement of synthetic antioxidants with antioxidants from natural sources. The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of quinoa enzyme-hydrolyzed proteins on functional and antioxidant properties of the produced pep...

Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles and Its Effect on Total Proteins in Melia Azedarach Plant

Silver nano-particles have different biological applications due to their compatibility. Chemical methods usually result in remaining some amounts of toxic reactions on the nano-particles. For this reason, the use of plants as sustainable and accessible resources in preparation of compatible nano-particles has attracted a lot of attention in the recent years. This research investigated the gree...

In silico investigation of lactoferrin protein characterizations for the prediction of anti-microbial properties

Lactoferrin (Lf) is an iron-binding multi-functional glycoprotein which has numerous physiological functions such as iron transportation, anti-microbial activity and immune response. In this study, different in silico approaches were exploited to investigate Lf protein properties in a number of mammalian species. Results showed that the iron-binding site, DNA and RNA-binding sites, signal pepti...

The shelf-life of conventional surimi and recovery of functional proteins from silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) muscle by an acid or alkaline solubilization process during frozen storage

The shelf-life of conventional surimi and isolated proteins that modified by acidic pH (2.5) and by using alkali pH (11) from silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) was studied during months of storage at -18±2 °C. For conventional surimi, three washing steps were used. In the third stage of washing, 0.2% NaCl was used to withdraw more water. The result showed that isolated protein by alkali...
